Before entering the technology industry Mark taught math, science and art in public schools in California, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. He then spent over 25 years in software development and network management, helping to build one of the largest global internet companies. Since leaving that career in 2001 he has been a volunteer in prison education programs in Maryland. He led discussion groups with the Touchstones Discussion Project at MCIJ for ten years. At MCIJ he also developed a mindfulness and stress management program using Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication as the text. He has been deepening his mindfulness meditation practice through many programs and retreats. In 2013 he completed the two year certificate program of the Meditation Teacher Training Institute led by Tara Brach. He is also a mentor for the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW).
